Research for Visitor Satisfaction with Emergency Room Research -Focus on General Hospitals-

Abstract
The goals of this study are to help improve emergency room service as the results of interviewing visitors to 3 general hospitals.
This research paper is based on the survey that was made by 150 visitors, 50 each hospital, to the three hospitals, from October 1st to 30th in 1999.
The research materials consist of questions of populational characteristics, 5 of emergency room, and 12 of satisfaction with emergency room service.
The data were collected from the people who have visited the three hospitals in big cities more than twice and are now on the waiting list.

Spss/pc were used to analyze the data.
Findings are following below :
1. Results of the research for populational characteristics 53.0% males, 24.6% in 30s, 65.3% married, 42.6% educated under middle school, 24.6% public officials of office workers, and 53.6% with no religion or others.
2. Characteristics of emergency room
50.6% internal department, 23.3% Sunday's visitors, 48.0% visiting time between 3 p.m. and 10. p.m., 48.6% one or two hour stay, 72.0% waiting time within 30 minutes.
3. Average of emergency room service satisfaction -3.71
The highest satisfaction represents 4.08 to the question 'Medical workers treated me skillfully.' out of 12.
The lowest shows 3.29 to the question 'Medical workers spent enough time examining.'
